From an Impossible Dream to Meematchai
Initially, it seemed like a distant dream. Accessing authentic matcha requires not only desire, but also time, patience, and closeness to the land and the people who have carried this craft for generations.
I am Mariam, an architect whose passion for beauty, detail, and authenticity led me to Japan. There, I began to deeply explore the world of matcha: from the tranquil fields to the farming methods, and to the hands of the producers who meticulously care for each tea leaf.
My journey in Japan involved over a year and a half of research, visits, correspondence, and waiting.
Gaining access to the farms was not easy; many producers do not accept new clients due to the high demand for matcha and the scarcity of available premium quantities. I received many rejections, but I did not give up, because I was not just looking for a product, but for authentic matcha, of known origin, carrying the spirit of the place and the integrity of the craft.
This is how Mematcha was born, to offer the Arab world a luxurious and transparent Japanese matcha experience, from farms we trust, and from relationships built with patience, respect, and perseverance.

Since arriving in Japan, my journey began where it mattered most: at the farms themselves. My goal was not only to choose beautiful matcha, but to build direct relationships with the farmers who craft it with care, season after season.
That is why Meematchai chose to work with family farms in Japan’s most important tea regions, from Kyoto to Shizuoka and Kagoshima. Each farm has its own land, climate, and unique craft.
Every matcha at Meematchai carries a story. It is the result of trust, respect, and a direct partnership with the people who cultivate it.

What Does the Word "Meematchai" Mean?
Meematchai is a name with both personal and cultural meaning.
“Meem” is the first letter of my name, Mariam, and also the first letter of matcha. “Chai” means tea in Arabic, while “Cha” means tea in Japanese.
The name was born as a bridge between my personal identity, the spirit of Japanese matcha, and the connection between the Arab world and Japan.
As an architect, I approached Meematchai like a complete design project: from the identity and logo to the packaging and website. Every detail was carefully shaped through my own vision.
That is why Meematchai is not just a brand to me. It is a project very close to my heart, growing with me step by step.
